April 19, 2017 -- Partner Sunny Soltani will lead a discussion on Mobilehome Park Regulations at the League of California Cities City Attorneys' Spring Conference on May 4, 2017. In a presentation entitled “Mobilehome Parks,” Sunny will discuss recent developments in the law regarding rent control, park closures and fair return takings issues. Sunny will provide practical advice on best practices to avoid fair return claims, preservation of affordable housing issues related to park closures, and recent trends in park closures.
The City Attorneys’ Spring Conference, held annually in May, provides training on cutting-edge issues in municipal law, including comprehensive updates on litigation affecting cities. The Conference will be held at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco from May 3-5. Sunny’s presentation is scheduled on May 4 at 4:45 p.m.
Sunny Soltani, a partner and a founding member of the Firm, serves as City Attorney to the City of Carson. Sunny specializes in land use, environmental law, rent control, property acquisition and regulatory takings. In 2011, Sunny was one of the lead litigators before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Colony Cove Properties, LLC v. City of Carson, et al, where the City won an important decision for all public agencies on rent control issues. In 2012, she served as counsel for the amici curiae in the seminal case of Pacific Palisades Bowl Mobile Estates, LLC v. City of Los Angeles, wherein the Supreme Court restored to public agencies an important aspect of their land use powers related to subdivisions. She has successfully litigated over 20 rent control challenges.
