Equity Partner, Joseph W. Pannone, Appointed to League of California Cities’ City Attorney Dept Ethics Guide Subcommittee

Joe Pannone, the City Attorney for Baldwin Park, Bellflower and Lompoc, has been appointed to the League of California Cities’ City Attorney Department subcommittee charged with revising the League's guide for city attorney ethics.

That ad hoc committee regularly meets by conference calls to collaborate on making the guide a useful tool to help city attorneys be well equipped for dealing with day-to-day ethical issues they can sometimes face.

Founding Partner, Bill Wynder, Appointed to 2013 League of California Cities’ Policy Committees

Bill Wynder, the City Attorney in Carson and Cypress, was appointed to the League of California Cities’ Policy Committees for 2013. Wynder will serve on the Housing, Community and Economic Development sub-committee. Last week, the League held its first policy committee meetings of 2013.  “We feel that our city clients benefit from our service on the League’s policy committees,” Wynder said “because we are able to weigh in on issues that will shape future League policies and benefit our public clients.

Partner June Ailin to Speak on Impacts of Dissolution of Redevelopment Agencies

June Ailin, an Equity Partner at Aleshire & Wynder, will be speaking on a panel presentation entitled "Redevelopment: Past, Present and . . . Future?" on March 9, 2012 at 12:00 noon.  The presentation will be held at the Los Angeles County Bar Association Conference Center, 1055 West Seventh Street, Suite 2700 Los Angeles, CA. 

The presentation will address:

(1) the recent executive, legislative and judicial actions leading to the dissolution of redevelopment agencies;

Orange County Sustainable Communities Strategy Approved

As part of Aleshire & Wynder's representation of the Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG), with partner Fred Galante serving as General Counsel, we assisted in the preparation of a local plan responding to the state's effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  The plan, representing a countywide strategy, is known as the Orange County Sustainable Communities Strategy (OC SCS).  It was approved by both the OCCOG and the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) boards of directors in June, 2011.

"Financial Management for Elected Officials" publication sponsored by Aleshire & Wynder for ILG

The law firm of Aleshire & Wynder provided generous support in 2010 that enabled the Institute for Local Government to develop this resource and make it available to local officials.

The ILG publication, "Financial Management for Elected Officials: Questions to Ask," provides questions for local officials to ask about:

-Cash management and investments
-Capital financing and debt management

Soltani to be Speaker at “Litigation Skills for Legal Professionals” Seminar

Partner Sunny Soltani of Aleshire & Wynder will serve on the faculty of a Lorman seminar, "Litigation Skills for Legal Professionals in California."  Ms. Soltani, along with two other speakers, will discuss critical functions related to maintenance and organization of civil litigation cases, especially relating to discovery issues and successful trials.
