"Financial Management for Elected Officials" publication sponsored by Aleshire & Wynder for ILG

The law firm of Aleshire & Wynder provided generous support in 2010 that enabled the Institute for Local Government to develop this resource and make it available to local officials.

The ILG publication, "Financial Management for Elected Officials: Questions to Ask," provides questions for local officials to ask about:

-Budget creation and monitoring
-Financial reporting
-Financial policies
-Long-term financial planning
-Cash management and investments
-Capital financing and debt management

Soltani to be Speaker at “Litigation Skills for Legal Professionals” Seminar

Partner Sunny Soltani of Aleshire & Wynder will serve on the faculty of a Lorman seminar, "Litigation Skills for Legal Professionals in California."  Ms. Soltani, along with two other speakers, will discuss critical functions related to maintenance and organization of civil litigation cases, especially relating to discovery issues and successful trials.

Anthony Taylor Named Rising Star for 5th Consecutive Year

Aleshire & Wynder is pleased to announce that Partner Anthony Taylor was named a 2010 "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers Magazine, making it his fifth consecutive year for receiving this distinction.

Super Lawyers magazine names attorneys in each state who received the highest point totals, as chosen by their peers and through the independent research. Rising Stars names the state's top attorneys who are 40 or under, or who have been practicing law for 10 years or less.  No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are named to the list.

Joseph W. Pannone Named City Attorney of Lompoc

Joseph W. Pannone of Aleshire & Wynder was chosen as the new City Attorney for the City of Lompoc.  He was selected by the City Council after a search was conducted, followed by interviews with the City Council.  He will also serve as General Counsel to the Lompoc Redevelopment Agency.  Mr. Pannone has previously served as legal counsel to over a dozen cities in California, including experience serving as City Attorney in 5 different cities before being selected by Lompoc.  Prior to his selection, he served as special counsel to Lompoc and its Redevelopment Agency since 1995.

City of Banning Appoints A&W as City Attorney

Aleshire & Wynder partner David Aleshire has been appointed as City Attorney of the City ofBanning.  The City Attorney acts as general counsel in the operation of city government.  Associate Christy Marie Lopez will serve as Assistant City Attorney.

Banning is a growing Southern California community of 23 square miles strategically located alongside Interstate 10 with a population of about 33,000.  The City is located in the San Gorgonio Pass between Mt. San Gorgonio and Mt. San Jacinto in Riverside County, California.

Carson Retains Aleshire & Wynder

Unanimous Vote By City Council

On June 4, 2008, the Carson City Council unanimously voted to retain Aleshire & Wynder as its legal counsel for all City and Redevelopment Agency services.  The attorneys of Aleshire & Wynder have served as Carson’s City Attorney and RDA counsel since 2003.  We were chosen over 11 other competing firms through a public process in which the proposals from all competing firms were made available for public review and scrutiny.  The public was invited to provide its comments and recommendations on the various proposals.
