Carson Retains Aleshire & Wynder

Unanimous Vote By City Council

On June 4, 2008, the Carson City Council unanimously voted to retain Aleshire & Wynder as its legal counsel for all City and Redevelopment Agency services.  The attorneys of Aleshire & Wynder have served as Carson’s City Attorney and RDA counsel since 2003.  We were chosen over 11 other competing firms through a public process in which the proposals from all competing firms were made available for public review and scrutiny.  The public was invited to provide its comments and recommendations on the various proposals.

In an effort to provide the most transparent and open process, the Council invited the six final firms to make public presentations, and public comment was taken before closed session interviews were conducted.

According to City records, Aleshire & Wynder has reduced the City’s legal bills for Carson each year since it was first hired in 2003 and has saved the City nearly $2M over a 3 year period.

In addition to lowering costs, members of the Council cited Aleshire & Wynder’s performance record, winning virtually every case for Carson.  In some instances, the Firm achieved recoveries that far exceeded the City’s legal costs. Aleshire & Wynder was especially noted for its expertise in mobile home issues which are a critical issue in the community.

“We are pleased to be retained again by the City of Carson,” said City Attorney Bill Wynder.  “Carson is a vibrant community and we are honored by the opportunity to continue serving the City.”

The City of Carson is a general law city with over 90,000 residents.  Incorporated in 1968, the City is home to large retail businesses, international manufacturing and technology companies, and California State University, Dominguez Hills.
